Sweepin’ the clouds away
On my way to where the air is sweet
Can you tell me how to get,
How to get to Sesame Street…
I think anyone and everyone who reads this post will be familiar with the Sesame Street theme song and is most likely humming it right now (I’m right aren’t I?)
A wonderful Mom from London, ON contacted me and asked if I could make the Party Cake, Smash Cake and the Sugar Cookie favours for her son’s first birthday party! THRILLING!!!
I LOVE doing several elements of a party. I designed the party cake and the cookies in a similar fashion so everything would match. Since the cookies were round, I decided to keep with the rounded theme on the party cake and the smash cake too!
Using Big Bird, Oscar the Grouch, Cookie Monster and Elmo as main characters I made 1 dozen of each cookie!
Then came the smash cake! ELMO was the baby’s favourite so Elmo it was! Simple vanilla cake and covered in buttercream so he could smash away!
And finally… the Party Cake. It took me about 4 hours to level, torte, crumb coat, buttercream, cover in fondant, stack and decorate and I loved each and every minute of it! I think it turned out amazing!!!
P.S. As we do with all cookies for parties or weddings, we packaged them up and labelled them in a “Pretty Cakes” way for guests to take home and enjoy!
If you are on Facebook I think you could view a video here
